وحدث بعد هذه الامور ان الله امتحن ابراهيم. فقال له يا ابراهيم. فقال هانذا.

Après ces choses, Dieu mit Abraham à l'épreuve, et lui dit: Abraham! Et il répondit: Me voici!

فقال خذ ابنك وحيدك الذي تحبه اسحق واذهب الى ارض المريّا واصعده هناك محرقة على احد الجبال الذي اقول لك.

Dieu dit: Prends ton fils, ton unique, celui que tu aimes, Isaac; va-t'en au pays de Morija, et là offre-le en holocauste sur l'une des montagnes que je te dirai.

فبكّر ابراهيم صباحا وشدّ على حماره واخذ اثنين من غلمانه معه واسحق ابنه وشقّق حطبا لمحرقة وقام وذهب الى الموضع الذي قال له الله.

Abraham se leva de bon matin, sella son âne, et prit avec lui deux serviteurs et son fils Isaac. Il fendit du bois pour l'holocauste, et partit pour aller au lieu que Dieu lui avait dit.

وفي اليوم الثالث رفع ابراهيم عينيه وابصر الموضع من بعيد.

Le troisième jour, Abraham, levant les yeux, vit le lieu de loin.

فقال ابراهيم لغلاميه اجلسا انتما ههنا مع الحمار. واما انا والغلام فنذهب الى هناك ونسجد ثم نرجع اليكما.

Et Abraham dit à ses serviteurs: Restez ici avec l'âne; moi et le jeune homme, nous irons jusque-là pour adorer, et nous reviendrons auprès de vous.

فاخذ ابراهيم حطب المحرقة ووضعه على اسحق ابنه واخذ بيده النار والسكين. فذهبا كلاهما معا.

Abraham prit le bois pour l'holocauste, le chargea sur son fils Isaac, et porta dans sa main le feu et le couteau. Et il marchèrent tous deux ensemble.

وكلم اسحق ابراهيم اباه وقال يا ابي. فقال هانذا يا ابني. فقال هوذا النار والحطب ولكن اين الخروف للمحرقة.

Alors Isaac, parlant à Abraham, son père, dit: Mon père! Et il répondit: Me voici, mon fils! Isaac reprit: Voici le feu et le bois; mais où est l'agneau pour l'holocauste?

Abraham répondit: Mon fils, Dieu se pourvoira lui-même de l'agneau pour l'holocauste. Et ils marchèrent tous deux ensemble.

فلما أتيا الى الموضع الذي قال له الله بنى هناك ابراهيم المذبح ورتب الحطب وربط اسحق ابنه ووضعه على المذبح فوق الحطب.

Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés au lieu que Dieu lui avait dit, Abraham y éleva un autel, et rangea le bois. Il lia son fils Isaac, et le mit sur l'autel, par-dessus le bois.

ثم مدّ ابراهيم يده واخذ السكين ليذبح ابنه.

فناداه ملاك الرب من السماء وقال ابراهيم ابراهيم. فقال هانذا.

Alors l'ange de l'Éternel l'appela des cieux, et dit: Abraham! Abraham! Et il répondit: Me voici!

فقال لا تمد يدك الى الغلام ولا تفعل به شيئا. لاني الآن علمت انك خائف الله فلم تمسك ابنك وحيدك عني.

L'ange dit: N'avance pas ta main sur l'enfant, et ne lui fais rien; car je sais maintenant que tu crains Dieu, et que tu ne m'as pas refusé ton fils, ton unique.

فرفع ابراهيم عينيه ونظر واذا كبش وراءه ممسكا في الغابة بقرنيه. فذهب ابراهيم واخذ الكبش واصعده محرقة عوضا عن ابنه.

ثم رجع ابراهيم الى غلاميه. فقاموا وذهبوا معا الى بئر سبع. وسكن ابراهيم في بئر سبع

وحدث بعد هذه الامور ان ابراهيم أخبر وقيل له هوذا ملكة قد ولدت ايضا بنين لناحور اخيك.

Après ces choses, on fit à Abraham un rapport, en disant: Voici, Milca a aussi enfanté des fils à Nachor, ton frère:
